EYFS 2020-2021 Transition

We are really looking forward to welcoming you to our Finstock family in September and cannot wait to meet you and children. We have been busy organising our transition events and the next steps we will be taking to ensure your children are transitioned into the reception class in our school successfully.

This week, Mrs Sellars and Mrs Harris spent some time contacting all nurseries to learn more about your wonderful children. It was so lovely to hear about all the children individually and begin to understand their characters and personalities.

Over the next few days, you will be receiving your ‘Mouse Club’ pack containing all the relevant information you will need to help prepare your child for their first year of school. Inside the packs will be an ‘All About Mouse Club’ booklet, information leaflets and of course your mouse teddy to help aid transition over the summer. These packs will be delivered to your door by a member of our Finstock team.

Next week (29th June- 3rd July), you will be hearing from your child’s class teacher. They will contact you to arrange a mutually agreeable time to discuss your child in more detail. You will be able to request a telephone call or a video call at a time that is convenient for you.

Over the summer holiday, the Early Years team will record videos of themselves reading their favourite story. These will be shared on the Finstock school website and can be used to help familiarise your child with their class teacher. We will also share details of your child’s first project, additional information about the Mouse club and a virtual tour of their new classroom and outdoor learning space. Please keep an eye on the school website for updates over the summer break for further information on how to purchase uniform, how to order school lunches and general day to day information.

On Wednesday 2nd September you are invited to attend a ‘stay and play’ session with your child’s class teacher and Learning Support Assistants who will be working with your child in their class. This will be a great opportunity to meet the class teacher, meet a number of children who will be in their class and for the children to begin to familiarise themselves with the classroom environment. Further details will be confirmed over the summer to enable us to respond accordingly to the government’s guidelines regarding Covid-19.

Children will officially start school on Thursday 3rd of September. Children will be expected to attend school from 8:40am – 3:00pm.

We look forward to meeting you all very soon. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
