RE Quality Mark

The RE Quality Mark is a chance to celebrate great RE. We know that when it is done well, learners engage with the big ideas about being human.

It celebrates the great work our school is doing and recognises high quality RE and good practice.  The mark provides awards based on the REQM criteria. Schools gather evidence for an assessment, which provides an award certificate and enables subject development.

Through RE, students get the chance to explore their own and others’ beliefs, values, and ways of living which are important to them. RE provides young people with the chance to explore the big ideas of religion and belief and to think about what matters in their own lives. Good RE supports the development of the whole child. It has a significant contribution to make to school improvement.

We achieved the Gold award.

Assessor Comments: 

RE has a high profile at Finstock School. Pupils clearly enjoy learning about different religions and worldviews. They understand why it is important to listen to and learn from others. The school takes its RE learning out to the community through regular ‘pilgrimages’ organised by the pupils. It was interesting to learn about the advantages and challenges of teaching RE in a school with two small classes.
