Individual Liberty
Cherry Class
In Cherry Class, we learnt about individual liberty by reading 'The Same but Different Too'.

We discussed likes and dislikes and all of the things that are important to us. Not everyone was the same! Lots of liked the same things, and lots of us liked different things - but that's ok! It is important to celebrate our individuality.
We played the You Choose game and all stood in the circle for different things we liked, such an amazing way to see all of our differences and celebrate them!

Pupil Voice
'I like chocolate!' Martin
'Me! I like blue and so do you' Martha
Oak Class
Oak had a wonderful time learning about the British Value of Individual Liberty. We began by recapping what British Values are: the important ideas that help everyone in our country live safely, happily, and respectfully together.
From there, we explored what Individual Liberty means. The children learned that it is all about having the freedom to make our own choices and express ourselves, while understanding how to make safe and responsible decisions. We talked about the choices we make every day, such as the games we play, the friends we spend time with, the activities we choose during learning time, and even the ways we can show kindness.

We also spent time thinking about what makes each of us unique. Just like fingerprints, no two people are exactly the same. The children enjoyed discussing their own special qualities, interests, and talents, and reflected on the choices they are free to make at school—whether it’s selecting a book to read, choosing how to solve a problem, or deciding how to show their creativity.
They showed great understanding and enthusiasm as they celebrated what makes them wonderfully individual.
Pupil Voice:
Casi: I follow British Values becasue I make good choices. I like try to challenge myself.
Finn: I choose to share toys.
Rapha: It means we choose what to do.
Cedar Class
Cedar Class have been learning about the British Value of Individual Liberty and what it means to have the freedom to make choices responsibly. The children explored how individual liberty allows people to express themselves while respecting the rights of others. To bring this learning to life, pupils designed their own mosaic tiles, choosing their colours, patterns and images independently, celebrating creativity, choice and personal expression.

Pupil voice:
“Being free means I can make my own choices but still be kind to others.” - Arran
“Freedom is being able to show who I am through my drawings.” - Frankie
“Being free means I can choose, as long as I don’t stop other people choosing too.” - John
