Express Events
At the end of each project, our classes hold Express Events and invite families and our Finstock community to explore their learning from the project.
Term 5
Oak Class - 20.05.25
Today, we explored modern-day significant people who are making a big difference in the world! The children enjoyed guessing who each person was before learning their inspiring stories, and shared thoughtful ideas about their impact. They finished the lesson by recording their own reflections on how today’s heroes might be remembered in history.
Mrs Daly - “It was so inspiring to see how engaged the children were—guessing, questioning, and truly reflecting on what makes someone significant. Their curiosity and empathy shone through as they explored the idea that ordinary people can have an extraordinary impact on the world.”
Shirley - Thomas' granny - "It is really fabulous to see their learning and showing what they are diong. It is nice to see past and future come together in a lesson".
Aurelia – “She was kind to the Earth. I want to help the Earth too.”
Sienna – “I thought they were just normal people, but they’re actually doing really cool things to help others.”
Pippa– “I liked guessing who they were from the pictures!”
Augustin – “I liked learning about real-life heroes. It made me think I could be one too if I try hard and help people.”
Chrissie - Augustin & Casi's mum - "Always nice to come together and see the children's learning".
Lucy - Pippa's mum - "Amazed by what the children are learning and the facts, years and important themes. Flipping back through their books, very impressed with their lessons and the content they are learning".
Casi – “They are not famous like kings and queens, but they still matter. That’s really nice.”
Rapha - “It made me think that anyone can do something great, even if they don’t wear a crown or a cape.”
John – “I wrote that I think they’ll be remembered because they tried to change the world.”
Harrison – “I think they’ll be remembered because they didn’t give up, even when things were tough. That’s what makes someone important in history.”
Charlotte - John's mum - Impressed. Really good. John's writing has come along really well, his sentence structure is really nice.
Thomas – “He helps people. I want to help.”
Josie – “They are in storybooks, like heroes.”
Oak Class - Movers and Shakers
For our Summer 1 Express event, we explored modern-day significant people who are making a big difference in the world! The children enjoyed guessing who each person was before learning their inspiring stories, and shared thoughtful ideas about their impact. Cherry Class - Animal Safari
For the Cherry Class express event this term, we came together to talk about some of our favourite lessons from our projects ‘Animal safari’ and ‘Creep Crawl and Wriggle’.
We looked at photos of what animal masks we made, talked about our favourite animals, sang and joined in with actions from the song ‘Walking in the jungle’ and finished off with a mini beast hunt.
