Year 5 Social Sciences Visit to Henry Box
A huge thank you to The Henry Box School for inviting our Year 5 pupils to take part in their fantastic Social Sciences event this afternoon. The children had an absolutely wonderful time immersing themselves in the history of Witney and exploring how the town has changed over time.
During the session, pupils examined a range of historical maps of Witney, carefully identifying familiar local landmarks and comparing how the area has developed through the years. They were fascinated to learn how historians are able to date maps and artefacts, and enjoyed applying these skills themselves as they investigated the materials provided.

The children also had the exciting opportunity to handle and investigate pieces of local pottery discovered in the area. They studied the shapes, textures and patterns before creating their own detailed drawings and interpretations of what they observed.
Throughout the afternoon, our pupils demonstrated excellent curiosity, thoughtful questioning and exemplary behaviour. They impressed the staff at Henry Box with their enthusiasm and knowledge, and represented our school brilliantly.
